WORCESTER, MA - Anne Marie (Pelletier) Gray, 84, of Worcester, died Wednesday in St-Vincent Hospital.
She was a teacher in the Leicester schools for many years, and retired in 1977.
She was also active with area religious and charitable groups, and was named Mother of the Year by the Worcester Catholic Diocese for her voluntary work in placing children in adoptive homes
Born in Wichendon, MA, she lived in Belmont before moving here in 1952. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
She studied at the College of the New Rochelle, NY, Simmons College, and Assumption College.
Her husband, Robert E. Gray, died in 1990. Mrs. Gray leaves two sons, Robert E. Jr. and Richard S. of Worcester, a daughter, Anne Marie Gray-Davis of Dudley; her stepmother, Getrude A. Pelletier of Springfield; two brothers, Dr. George A. of Springfield and Pierre J. of Worcester; five sisters, Marie-Antoinette Pelletier of Belmont, Colette Kmetz of Pompton Lakes, NJ, Jacqueline O'Neil of Worcester, Audrée Vadnais of Springfield, and Marie Pelletier of Plymouth; five grandchildren.
The funeral will be on Monday morning at Callahan Bros. Funeral Home and the church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Winchendon. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon through the evening, and memorial contributions may go to the Anne P. Gray Scholarship Fund, Assumption College, 500 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA, 01609.
