Samuel Theron Coles
Samuel Theron Coles, first-born son of Kristen and Darrell, grandson to Karen and Pierre, Diana and Ron, nephew to Holly and Daniel, Jennifer and Jim, was born at 11:10 am on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Born sixteen weeks early, his lungs were greatly under-developed and were not functioning properly. Despite the tireless efforts of the staff of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit of Brigham and Women's Hospital, Samuel left us again only six hours after he was born.
The world was a brighter place for a time, and is deminished with his departure.

Nathan Gibson Coles
Nathan Gibson Coles, second-born son of Kristen and Darrell, grandson to Karen and Pierre, Diana and Ron, nephew to Holly and Daniel, Jennifer and Jim, was born at 11:11 am on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Born sixteen weeks early, we nevertheless had strong hopes that he would overcome every obsticle and leave the NICU at Brigham & Women's Hospital in late September. Alas, the blood vessels in his brain were too fragile and they ruptured, causing a stroke that encompassed almost his entire brain. Nathan died just before 11 pm on Tuesday, June 13, 2006.
He goes to rejoin his older brother, Samuel, and to share with him the Red Sox hat his uncle gave him to bring along.

The following poem was read at Kristen and Darrell's wedding:
love is more thicker than forget
love is more thicker than forget
more thinner than recall
more seldom than a wave is wet
more frequent than to fail
it is most mad and moonly
and less it shall unbe
than all the sea which only
is deeper than the sea
love is less always than to win
less never than alive
less bigger than the least begin
less littler than forgive
it is most sane and sunly
and more it cannot die
than all the sky which only
is higher than the sky
e.e. cummings
